Importing Photos from a Drive

homehttp://www.hughsmac.com

1 -  Insert the drive into an open USB slot.  Locate the icon representing the Drive. Drag it overtop of the iPhoto icon in the dock and let go.   This is called “Drag and Drop”.

4 - As soon as the import is completed, iPhoto will start scanning the pictures for faces and record the information internally.   It may be hard to see on the picture on the right, but there will be a circle twirling around beside the “Faces” folder under the Library.

2 - If a duplicate is about to be imported, iPhoto will alert you.  A window opens to show the duplicate.  If you don’t want any duplicates imported, put a check-mark in the box beside “Apply to all duplicates”, then click “Don’t Import”. (2a)

iPhoto will open up if not already open and start preparing to import the pictures.

3 - iPhoto continues the import, placing the pictures in the Library and show them in a folder called  “Last Import”.

Note: To safely take the drive out of the computer,  disconnect it first, by dragging the drive’s icon to the trash.
