Editing Photos

The edit mode has a lot of features that are best explored by experimentation.

Photos can be edited in the main Library, or an album. You can even edit a photo while in a slideshow project.

Now we see the edit commands along the bottom of the window.

Tip:  Want to keep the original size, and also have an edited version?   Make a Duplicate first.

Made a change and don’t like the result?   Some of the edit adjustments have controls to cancel the change.  Some just have an “X” to close the adjustment window.

Here are a few tips to get you started.

Note: - When you click on “Edit” in the Menu Bar you will often see the option to undo the last thing you did, or redo the change you cancelled.   This is a good thing to remember all the time to quickly go back a step.

10 -  Here is another way to undo a change:  For instance, I  clicked on “Enhance Photo”, but now I want to change it back to what it was.   All I have to do is click on “Edit” in the Menu Bar and select “Undo Enhance Photo”.

9 - Click “Done” when you have finished editing the picture.  If you are doing more than one picture in the same section, use the arrows to go to the previous or next picture or locate a picture using the slider pointed out in step #5 .

11 - Here’s how. With the photo selected, click on “Photos” in the Menu Bar, and click on “Duplicate” (11a).  A second photo will appear beside the original.

12 -  Want to do away with the changes and have the original version back?  Click on “Photos” in the Menu Bar, and click on “Revert to Original”.

12a -  A small window pops up asking you if you are sure, click “OK”.

Note:  If you want to keep the new version, but also want the original, do this:  Make a duplicate of the new version, (step #11), then select either picture and click on Revert to Original (step #12).

Afraid you might mess things up or loose your picture?  Don’t be.

  1. You can always “Revert back to the Original picture”.  See step #12.

  2. Or you can make a duplicate  and make changes on it instead. See Step #11.

4 - A small preview of the picture you choose is shown in the pane along the top of the window.  Click on any other picture along the top to edit a different one.

8 - Tip:  Need a close-up view?  Use the slider to make the picture larger.

2 - Select a picture to edit by clicking on it once.  It should have a yellow band around it.

3 -  Click on “Edit”.

1 -  To edit a picture in the main Photo Library, click on Photos.

5 - Slide the bar to see more pictures in the library or album.

6 -  Click on any of the edit commands to try one out.  Some will open a small window with controls.
