Importing Photos from a Folder

homehttp://www.hughsmac.com

1 -  Locate the Folder. Drag the icon overtop of the iPhoto icon in the dock and let go.   This is called “Drag and Drop”.

4 - As soon as the import is completed, iPhoto will start scanning the pictures for faces and record the information internally.   It may be hard to see on the picture on the right, but there will be a circle twirling around beside the “Faces” folder under the Library.

2 - If a duplicate is about to be imported, iPhoto will alert you.  A window opens to show the duplicate.  If you don’t want any duplicates imported, put a check-mark in the box beside “Apply to all duplicates”, then click “Don’t Import”. (2a)

iPhoto will open up if not already open and start preparing to import the pictures.

3 - iPhoto continues the import, placing the pictures in the Library and show them in a folder called  “Last Import”.

Scanning your prints from old albums is a great way to preserve the memories.  Check your scanner manual to get the best quality, and be sure to take note of the location of the folder into which the scanner application puts the pictures.
