Importing from Mail to iPhoto
Importing from Mail to iPhoto
1 - Double click on the email with the picture you want to add to iPhoto. It should open in a separate window.
2 - You should see the image in the body of the email. (I just showed the top edge.)
3 - Click on the image and drag it down to the dock making sure the pointer goes right over top of the iPhoto icon in the dock. Let go. (This is called “drag and drop”-ping the picture on the icon.)
iPhoto will open up and import the picture. If you have more pictures to import, repeat the process, just drag and drop them onto the iPhoto icon on the dock. In fact, you can even drag and drop a whole picture folder the same way. Or ...better yet, try the method below if you have more than one picture on the email.
OS X often provides more than one way of doing something. The same goes for importing pictures into iPhoto.
Here is one easy way.
More than one Picture to add? Here is another way to add more pictures.
4 - Click and hold the ”Save” button, hold it, don’t let go. Slide your pointer to the bottom of the small window that pops up, and let go over top of “Add to iPhoto”.
Note: If you let go, the pictures will be saved to a folder or to your desktop. They may either clutter up the desktop, or give you grief trying to find them if you don’t know what folder they went to. “Leopard” has made it easier by setting things up so they go to a special “downloads” folder.
A word about duplicates. You will know this from using a digital camera, but just in case .... If you are trying to add pictures that are already in iPhoto, or you don’t know for sure if they are, don’t worry, follow the steps. iPhoto will check and tell you if there are duplicates and give you the choice to add or cancel. This will be covered in steps to import from a camera.
