Importing Photos from a Memory Card Reader.
Importing Photos from a Memory Card Reader.
1 - Locate the icon for the Card Reader. Drag it overtop of the iPhoto icon in the dock and let go. This is called “Drag and Drop”.
Memory Sticks or Cards are used in Digital Cameras, Cell Phones, game consoles etc.
They may differ in appearance, but fit inside the item. Most Digital Cameras come equipped with a memory card, and cards with larger storage capacity can be purchased separately. When you are ready to import pictures to iPhoto from camera you can either just plug in the camera and follow the instructions on iPhoto /09 Basics. You may have a second card and don’t want to put it back in the camera to import the photos, or may prefer to take the memory card out of the camera and plug it into a “Memory Stick/Card Reader.” These readers come in various shapes and sizes, but all are plugged into the computer via USB. When connected, an icon will show up on the desktop. After that importing pictures to iPhoto works the same way as importing from a folder, CD, or Thumb Drive.
3 - iPhoto continues the import, placing the pictures in the Library and show them in a folder called “Last Import”.
4 - As soon as importing is completed, iPhoto will start scanning the pictures for faces and record the information internally. It may be hard to see on the picture on the right, but there will be a circle twirling around beside the “Faces” folder under the Library.
2 - If a duplicate is about to be imported, iPhoto will alert you. A window opens to show the duplicate. If you don’t want any duplicates imported, put a check-mark in the box beside “Apply to all duplicates”, then click “Don’t Import”. (2a)
iPhoto will open up if not already open and start preparing to import the pictures.
