Make Business Cards using Design Pro

homehttp://www.hughsmac.com

1 - Open Design Pro, by clicking the Icon on the dock once.

2 - Along the top of the window that opens you will see a variety of options i.e. Labels, Photo ID, Card Products, Name Badges, Business Cards.  If you cannot see the Business Card option, click on the left or right arrow to slide the icons along and show more.  Continue until the icon for Business Cards comes into view.

3 -  Click on the Business Card icon.

Here are the basic steps to make your business cards using a free application called Design Pro created by Avery, and designed to use with their card stock products available at most office supply stores.  If you do not have it on your computer already, you will have to install it first.  Click here for steps.

4 - Notice that the left pane changes to show various options of business card sizes and styles.

Click on the slider and scroll until you see the item number of the business card stock you are planning to use.

You should have available the card stock you are planning to use.  Although you can also print cards on plain paper, or full sheets or card-stock and cut them yourself.

5 -  Or type the number of the card stock into the search bar.

6 -  Click on the arrow to see more design choices.

Card size selected should be highlighted.

10 -  To edit a section of words, click on a line.   I clicked on the sample name.  You should see markers in the corners and middle. (10a) Clicking on one of the points allows you to drag the line and make the section larger or smaller.

8 -  Click on a card to select it.

7 - Be sure the Template shows the number of cards on your stock.

9 - Click on Choose Design.

12 -  To edit the words, click on the line to show the markers, then double click.   The words should be highlighted, now you can type in your own.  Continue with each section until your own information is in place.

13 - To change the picture, click on it.

11 - Now you can change text properties for that section, change fonts, colours, position etc.  Keep in mind the print size you see on your screen may look too large or too small on a business card.  Using the template sizes is probably a good place to start.

15 -  Now click on Gallery.  A window opens to show a Clip Art Gallery.   Browse through the many types available.

15

15  - You can also use your own photos by clicking on iPhoto

16  - Click on a photo or Clip Art and click Insert to place it in your card.

16

14 - Note that you can change the size of the picture on your card by clicking on one of the markers and dragging it in the direction you want to go.

14

17 -  Once you’ve chosen the picture or Clip Art you want,  (if any) and changed the text to your own,  you are almost ready to print.  First Save your document.

15

18 - Then click All Same. If you forget this, you will get one card and the rest of the sheet will be blank.  Note that you must do this each time you open the project to print more cards as well.

There is a lot more that can be done with Design Pro, but I hope these basic steps will help you get started.  Note that steps to make labels are very similar, you are just working with different sizes.

To reprint cards later.  Open Design Pro.  Instead of starting with a new card, click on File, then click on Open Recent.  You should see a list of those you have made before, click on the one you want to open it and remember to do step # 18 above.
