How to make a Screen Shot
4 - If your sound is on, you will hear the sound of a camera shutter. Now look for the picture on your desktop. Previously the pictures would be simply called “Picture 1”, “Picture 2” , “Picture 1” etc. Snow Leopard has upped it a notch and now it is called a Screen Shot and the date and time are included in the name.
Want to quickly make a copy of something you see on the screen?
Would you like to show someone the error message, but it goes away when you close the application?
How about some special effects on your pictures?
The picture below is a picture of a portion of the dock.
2 - Press the “Shift”, “Command” and the “4” keys down at the same time. The pointer arrow becomes a “cross-hairs”.
To make a picture (screen shot) like this one:
1 - Move your pointer to the top left corner of the area.
3 - Now drag (press down the mouse or pad on a laptop) the pointer diagonally across the area you want to capture and let go.
There are some new features in Leopard and Snow Leopard.
After dragging your pointer over the area you want to take a Screen Shot of, while still holding it down, you can:
• Change the size of the shot you are taking by pressing the shift key to lock on to the x- or y- axis.
• Pressing the option key lets you resize the shot from the centre instead of a corner.
• Pressing the shift and option keys allows you to resize from the center along one of the axis.
• Pressing the spacebar freezes the area so you can move the whole area to another position on the screen, or just a little.
